Meaning & context
Nylon is not a natural substance. As such, a nairong hwanja or nylon patient relates to someone who is not “naturally” or truthfully hurt, but fakes an injury or feigns sickness or for some monetary or other benefit. It is often used for someone who is in a car accident and pretends to be injured to get compensation. Also: 나이롱 신자[na-i-rong shin-ja] a false believer or sham churchgoer (someone who attends church merely for the social network, but is not a real believer).

I heard you were in an accident. You hurt bad?
No, not really.
Well, then are you being a nylon hwanja?
No, I would never do that! I’m not getting money for this!
Then what are you doing here?
Well, I’m a sucker for all these hot nurses in their white nylons!
