[pok-tan-i-da]

butt-ugly or busted

Meaning & context

Simply speaking, poktan is a bomb. As slang, this expression refers to a person’s definitive unattractiveness, or someone that no one wants to end up with. Opposite of the English expression “the bomb,” it is used to describe someone as hideous, revolting or more appropriately with the derogatory term “busted.”

Peter

피터

Yeah, man. She’s the shit!

Siwoo

What do you mean shit. I love her. . . The girl you introduced me to was poktanida! That’s why I bounced.

Peter

OK, I guess we need a slang translator, cause you’re not making any sense.

Siwoo

시우

You’ve got it the wrong way, but yeah, let’s look at that “Rat’s Tail” book again. BOMB!
