Badass Korean — As Much as a Rat’s Tail

고딩(초딩, 중딩, 대딩, 직딩)

[go-ding (cho-ding, jung-ding, dae-ding, jik-ding)]

a high schooler

Meaning & context

(elementary, middle school, university student, office worker)

청소년들이 문자메시지나 온라인 상에서 고등학생이라는 단어를 줄여 만든 말.

Short for godeunghaksaeng (고등학생), this expression is primarily used among young people for texting or online chatting. Combining the “d” (ㄷ) with the “ng” (ㅇ) of deung-hak-sang (등학생) to make “ding” (딩) and appending that to the initial character of the level of student or worker: e.g. go (고) for godeunghakyo (고등학교) .
